Types of the nesting box
Bird nesting boxes are easily available in different shapes and sizes in the market. But the most commonly used nesting box is a wooden nesting box. There are three most common types of nesting box widely used:
- Post mounted bird nesting box: A nesting box that is made with a house on the top and strong base at the bottom.

- There should be ventilation holes to allow the interior to remain cool.
- The cleaning of the nesting box should be easy.
Placement of Birds Nesting Box
- The nesting box should not be placed in direct sunlight. If the nesting box gets direct sunlight throughout the day, this may hurt the bird living inside.
- The nesting box should be placed beyond the easy reach of predators.
- The height of the nesting box is also important to attract birds. Different bird species live at a different height so It should be placed accordingly. It should be at least 1.5 meters above the ground.
- Always place the nesting box away from the bird feeders because the bird feeder’s activity throughout the day will disturb the bird staying inside the nesting box.
- Avoid placing the nesting box in areas where chemicals and pesticides are used.
